Poisoned in Rose Yard

At 10.25pm, after an evening out, Mary Ann Fisher and Louisa Bream returned to their homes in the yard. When Mary Ann entered her house, all was far from well. She found her husband George gravely ill and ran out to fetch her brother-in-law William. William later explained: ‘George’s wife came to me and said, “Pray run to your brother for he is dying.” I went directly to his house and found him lying on the bed. His mouth was wide open; his eyes rolling about. He lived about five minutes and died whilst I was present.’
