Triumphs over Disasters

As Norwich is bought to a halt by the corona virus crisis, we are constantly told that we are living in ‘unprecedented times’. There is no doubt that none of us have experienced the conditions we are now living through, but this is only one of many catastrophes experienced in the City during its long history. But how does it compare with these earlier disasters which include plagues, fires and rebellion, not to mention the economic devastation wrought by the loss of our staple industry (weaving)? What are the similarities and differences? Also, and maybe most importantly, what can we learn from them?
